My activities in Baka-Tsuki

Oh man... I didn't have time or idea to post here for a while, but now I have a new sidebar gadget "Blogger Buddy" which saves me the trouble to visit my blog and helps to post directly from my desktop. So I think I'll utilize this now.

I'd like to tell about my activities in Baka-Tsuki. It's a fellow project of wikipedia where we can read translated versions of Japanese light novels.
I was first directed here by the desire of reading Kaze no Stigma;. I loved the Anime adaptation of this and wanted to read it. I'll be publishing a blog on this anime sooner or later.

Anyway, I completed reading it, but noticed some grammar mistakes here and there. A little pondering revealed that the people who are translating this don't have the expertise in English. Moreover, they were translating it from the Chinese translation of the novel, which is prone to mistakes in the first place. So I decided to help them with the English translation by signing up and editing them.

When my contribution to Kaze no Stigma was complete, I reckoned I should check out the other light novels, see the style of Japanese light novels.

I read through 7 Nights, Ginban Kaleidoscope & Zero no Tsukaima & I also skimmed through the prologue of CubexCursedxCurious.

In the majority of novels I looked through, Boys Always Manage to get on the Wrong side of girls on the Very First Day! [ In other words, Accidental perversion leads to violent girls] Then they forgive each other and end up liking each other.

But Kaze no Stigma is an exeption; Kazuma (male protagonist) is a strong character.

He is completely immune to this stereotype. Whenever Kazuma mocks or finds himself in an awkward position with the female lead, Ayano, he doesn't submit to the stereotype and let her hurt him. he doesn't let anyone that isn't even 1/10th as skilled and powerful as he is get a hit in. He knows what's going on around him, and even in rare occasions when he doesn't know what's happening, he acts cool and comfortable. And his fights are AWESOME! With his total control of the wind, he rarely finds himself on the losing side.

Oh no... I again started blabbering about it. Sorry folks, that was supposed to come in my next post.

Anyway, I'm continuing my search on Baka tsuki for some remarkable light novels and will let you know when I find any.

Cheers.......

If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, well...... change your attitude.
